Md. Sultan Mahmud passed Secondary School Certificate Examination in 1970 and Higher Secondary Certificate Examination in 1972. He completed B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Dhaka in 1975 and M.A. in Economics from the same University in 1976. Thereafter he obtained LLB degree under University of Dhaka in 1981. Having obtained his law degree, Mr. Mahmud got enrolled as an Advocate of Bangladesh Bar Council on 04th September 1983. He got permission to practice in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on 04th March 1987 (Membership ID No. 2310). In December, 2015 he obtained permission to practice in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. In October, 2011, Mr. Mahmud has been appointed as a Prosecutor of International Crimes Tribunal, Bangladesh. At present he is serving in the said post in the status of Additional Attorney General.
